Holotropic Breathwork in Switzerland
“Holotropic Breathwork is a holistic technique of transpersonal psychology for introspection and therapy to resolve trauma. We use this method, developed by Stanislav Grof, to experience expanded states of consciousness in Ursy in the canton of Fribourg.”
“In my work in trauma therapy, I have worked with many gentle methods that have allowed me to release profound blocks, but no tool can initiate such fundamental change in the shortest amount of time as Holotropic Breathwork.”
— Eva Ursiny —
My therapeutic approach combines various techniques such as CranioSacral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Homeopathy, and Holotropic Breathwork.
What are your benefits?
97% of people reach a state of expanded consciousness from the first session, in which the body begins to release accumulated tension. The therapeutic nature of such an experience has an impact on a number of areas of our lives:
Deep Relaxation
Each Holotropic Breathwork session can lead to deeper relaxation and the reduction of chronic stress.
Emotional Liberation
Through the profound connection to the subconscious, emotional tensions can be easily released.
Tauma Processing
Altered states of consciousness during breathwork can facilitate the processing of trauma and imprints.
Self-Experience
Make fundamental life decisions more easily by feeling what you want and what no longer serves you.
Alleviate Depression
Trough intensive breathwork and liberation of the subconscious we can alleviate or even dissolve depression.
Better Relationships
During breathwork, you use your heart instead of your mind, and therefore, connect to your deeper being.

Methodology – The Three Ingredients
Holotropic breathing is based on group dynamics and a very special atmosphere, which is created with a special soundtrack. In addition, a targeted preparation and follow-up phase are fundamental elements of the process. I have written detailed articles about this, which you can find on my blog. On request, I also offer a personal introduction or a private session.
Breath Deeply
Holotropic Breathwork is based on deep breaths alternating with phases of pausing. The conscious alternation between intensive breathing and relaxation leads to far-reaching effects.
Holotropic Music
To create the right atmosphere, we use specially designed music sets or a playlist of soundtracks. These music sets create a range of emotions from activation to emotional breakthrough to pure relaxation.
Sharing Circle
The strong energy of collective breathwork sessions and the subsequent sharing circle make for an unforgettable experience. The exchange of our experiences helps to integrate the message on a deeper level of the mind.

FAQ – The Basic Questions
In the future, I will also translate my holotropic articles into French. So far there is an English version, which you can find below, and a German version. But firstly, here are the most important questions that are often asked about Holotropic Breathwork.
How does a Holotropic Breathwork session work?
The process itself uses very simple means: it combines accelerated breathing with impressive music in a specific set and setting. With eyes closed and lying on a mat, each person uses their own breathwork and the music to enter an extraordinary state of consciousness.
Of course, how a session unfolds depends on the symptoms, age and various other factors. A session usually lasts 3-4 hours, but can also be longer or shorter.
What can I experience with Holotropic Breathwork?
Participants usually report a variety of experiences – biographical flashbacks, a range of strong emotions, mystical and even transcendent experiences. The completed session is usually accompanied by a feeling of deep liberation and psychophysical relaxation.
Is Holotropic Breathwork Safe?
Holotropic Breathwork according to Stanislav Grof has been designed to ensure absolute safety thanks to experienced and certified facilitators who will accompany you on this journey. Individual participant processes can sometimes be very intense, which is why it is essential to check for contraindications before taking part in the first session. I am always there for you during the session and also offer support between sessions for those who need it.
What is the science behind Holotropic Breathwork?
Breathing deeper and longer has physiological and psychological effects on the brain. This interaction has been scientifically studied.
Physiologically, oxygen displaces carbon dioxide and the purification process increases blood alkalinity. Lower carbon dioxide levels reduce oxygen flow to parts of the brain, including the prefrontal cortex lobe, which is part of the Default-Mode Network (DMN). The DMN plays a role in creating mental constructs, the most important of which is the ego.
The DMN also exerts an inhibitory influence on other parts of the brain, particularly the limbic regions that control emotions and memory. When the network is suppressed, these regions are more active, allowing emotions and memories, including trauma, to rise from the unconscious, be processed, processed, and released.

Articles about Holotropic Breathwork
“In my career as a holistic therapist, I have become familiar with numerous approaches. I realized that many therapeutic philosophies are based on the same fundamental principles. This overlap became particularly clear to me during my training as a craniosacral therapist, where I recognized many parallels to Holotropic Breathwork — especially with regard to bodywork or the concept of the inner healer.”
“During this time, I wrote a detailed paper on the two techniques and my practical experience with both therapeutic approaches. I have published this detailed elaboration in the form of a series of articles, which you can read here, split in logical sections. Chronologically, the tretise begins with the topic of expanded states of consciousness.”
