Holotropic Breathwork is a holistic technique of transpersonal psychology for introspection and therapy for the resolution of trauma. We work with this method developed by Stanislav Grof to experience expanded states of consciousness in Ursy in the canton of Fribourg.

Holotropic Breathwork is a holistic therapeutic approach that enables people to experience expanded states of consciousness without the use of substances such as LSD or ayahuasca. Through this technique, traumata and pathological imprints can be identified and worked on even at the unconscious levels of the psyche. Through the therapeutic re-staging of the evaluated experience, a neutrlization can occur – one also speaks of a devaluation.
This approach can liberate hidden potentials and suppressed aspects. Holotropic Breathwork is therefore a very powerful tool in trauma therapy. In my career as a holistic therapist, I have found that other holistic approaches also work according to this principle. Homeopathy, for example, works with archetypal information in the subconscious to achieve a neutralization of the trauma—respectactively, devaluation of the emotional charge. CranioSacral Therapy also has many parallels to Holotropic Breathwork because it too can initiate deep regression.
